Gifts
By Richard Moser
Ephesians 2:8-9 (NASB)—For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
We all like receiving gifts for our birthdays, anniversaries, and at Christmas. But the best gifts are those that we receive from God.
God has given us so many blessings. We have been placed on this planet with an atmosphere just precisely right to sustain our lives. We are given talents and abilities to function in this world. God gives us husbands and wives, other families and friends to love and enjoy life with.
We are to share gifts with those whom God puts in our lives. These include the gifts of prayer for them, friendship with them, time spent with them, or even sometimes material gifts.
But the greatest gift of all is salvation through God’s Son, Jesus Christ. God sent His only Son to free us from our sins. There is no way that we can earn our salvation. It is a gift from God. Have you accepted God’s greatest gift to you?
