| Altogether Lovely |
|---|
| Oft I am asked why Christ I love, And what He means to me; I answer, “He redeemed my soul. By dying on the tree.”He came from heav’n to rescue me, My load of sin He bore; And since I’ve learned to know His love, My dread and fears are o’er.And now He lives in glory bright, And pleads my cause on high; And soon He’ll come and take me home, Where pleasures never die.Refrain: He is altogether lovely, Yes, the fairest of the fair, Chief is He among ten thousand, And with Him I’ll glory share. —H. Only One Life, ‘Twill Soon Be Past
by Author unknown

| Two little lines I heard one day, Traveling along life’s busy way; Bringing conviction to my heart, And from my mind would not depart; Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.Only one life, yes only one, Soon will its fleeting hours be done; Then, in ‘that day’ my Lord to meet, And stand before His Judgment seat; Only one life,’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.Only one life, the still small voice, Gently pleads for a better choice Bidding me selfish aims to leave, And to God’s holy will to cleave; Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.Only one life, a few brief years, Each with its burdens, hopes, and fears; Each with its clays I must fulfill, living for self or in His will; Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.When this bright world would tempt me sore, When Satan would a victory score; When self would seek to have its way, Then help me Lord with joy to say; Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.Give me Father, a purpose deep, In joy or sorrow Thy word to keep; Faithful and true what e’er the strife, Pleasing Thee in my daily life; Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.Oh let my love with fervor burn, And from the world now let me turn; Living for Thee, and Thee alone, Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne; Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.Only one life, yes only one, Now let me say, “Thy will be done”; And when at last I’ll hear the call, I know I’ll say “’twas worth it all”; Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last. —Author unknown |

JUDAH ON TRIAL
Judah on Trial
Isaiah 1:12-17
When you appear before the Lord,
Who required you in His court;
Bring no offering to afford,
An incense loathing to consort.
For the new moon and the Sabbath,
The calling of convocation;
Will never tolerate His wrath,
Regardless of your location.
God can’t endure iniquity,
Your new moon and appointed feast;
After your solemn assembly,
Devouring wildebeest.
Your appointed feasts His soul hates,
He is weary of bearing them;
For they will be sealing your fates,
In which your Lord God will condemn.
When you’re spreading out of your hands,
The Lord will hide His eyes from you;
Even though you pray to demand,
He will not hear since it’s not true.
Your hands full of blood and need to clean,
Remove evil deeds before His eyes;
Your evil thoughts simply obscene,
The Lord wants to make you wise.
Learn to seek good and seek justice,
Make plea unto the widow’s cause;
Bring justice to the fatherless,
Confession for all of your flaws.

Psalm 119:57-64
The Lord has been my portion,
I promise to keep His Word;
For there is no distortion,
From the first time I had heard.
I entreated His favor,
Entirely with my heart;
He’s gracious as my Savior,
His promises I impart.
When I think about my way,
I turn my feet towards His Law;
So, I do not disobey,
That I will avoid a flaw.
I hasten and don’t delay,
In keeping His commandments;
So that I don’t go astray,
Results from my amusements.
Though the wicked ensnare me,
Your Law I do not forget;
They open my eyes to see,
And assist me not to fret.
At night I rise to praise you,
Because of His righteous rules;
For righteous judgments are true,
I’m unlike the other fools.
I’m a friend to all who fear,
Of those who keep His precepts;
Those who honor and revere,
And love the righteous concepts.
The earth is full of His love,
Full of His mercy and grace;
He teaches statutes thereof,
His affection does embrace.

FAITH HOPE LOVE
Faith, Hope, Love
Faith, Hope, Love
Faith thinks on what the Lord has done:
It goes to Calvary,
It sees God’s love through Christ His Son
And all through history.
Hope thinks of what the Lord will do:
It sees eternity,
It holds each promise made as true
And lives for what will be.
While love responds to both each day:
It worships fervently,
It serves with joy and keeps God’s way
In bold humility.
Our faith will one day turn to sight,
Hope to reality,
But love will last in heaven’s light
For all eternity.
Christina Joy Hommes
“For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” 1 Corinthians 13:12-13

GOD
God
I didn’t make the God I serve
Or form the One I worship
I can’t decide the things He likes
Or grant to Him His Lordship
I cannot choose what He believes
Or counsel Him in wisdom
I don’t decide what He accepts
Or help adjust His system
I can’t decide the things He’ll choose
Or redefine His nature
He doesn’t ask what He should do
Or care about my censure
He isn’t taught and doesn’t change
All-knowing, ever present
He’s self-existing, holy, good
Eternal and transcendent
I’m in His image not my own
For He alone has made me
I bow to Him, not Him to me
He’s God – forever worthy
Christina Joy Hommes
“O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been His counsellor? Or who hath first given to Him, and it shall be recompensed unto Him again? For of Him, and through Him, and to Him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.” Romans 11:33-36

The Fight
The accuser stood before my face
Spewing out his lies
Soiling every gift of grace
My conscience his disguise
He said the work wrought by God
Was not by God at all
But merely works of flesh and sod
Remaining from the fall
Battle-worn and weary
I resorted to the Psalms
And leaned upon my Savior’s breast
And rested in His arms
He graciously succored me
With wise and tender words
And muted Satan’s wretched voice
‘Til I no longer heard
Great and gracious loving Lord
Redeemer, Shepherd, King
I bow to You in gratitude
Your praises shall I sing

The Cross
In evil long I took delight,
Unawed by shame or fear,
Till a new object struck my sight,
And stopped my wild career.
I saw One hanging on a tree,
In agonies and blood;
He fixed His languid eyes on me,
As near His cross I stood.
Sure never till my latest breath,
Shall I forget that look!
It seemed to charge me with His death,
Though not a word He spoke.
A second look He gave, which said,
“I freely all forgive;
This blood is for thy ransom paid;
I die that thou mayest live.”
Thus while His death my sin displays
In all its blackest hue,
Such is the mystery of grace,
It seals my pardon too!

Blessed Homeland
Gliding o’er life’s fitful waters,
Heavy surges sometimes roll;
And we sigh for yonder haven,
For the homeland of the soul.
Blessed homeland, ever fair!
Sin can never enter there;
But the soul, to life awaking,
Everlasting bloom shall wear.
Oft we catch a faint reflection,
Of its bright and vernal hills;
And, though distant, how we hail it!
How each heart with rapture thrills!
To our Father, and our Savior,
To the Spirit, Three in One,
We shall sing glad songs of triumph
When our harvest work is done.
‘Tis the weary pilgrim’s homeland,
Where each throbbing care shall cease,
And our longings and our yearnings,
Like a wave, be hushed to peace.

Better Beauty Beyond
The world with its beauty and charms
Comes to me with wide open arms;
Its pleasures allure to embrace
But will end in pain and disgrace.
There is better beauty beyond
That I will enjoy before long;
The most beautiful and the best
Is the One who gives peace and rest.

RICHARD SHERRER
My soul cleaves unto the dust,
For life as per Your Word;
As I am avoiding lust,
Because I’m weary and tired.
For I have declared my ways,
Please teach me of your statute;
The one who constantly prays,
I desire to pay tribute.
Make me understand the way,
To reflect on Your precept;
Wondrous works that will not stray,
That so many don’t accept.
My soul melts having sorrow,
Strengthen me as per your Word;
Having faith for tomorrow,
That my belief will be stirred.
Remove the deceit from me,
Graciously teach me Your Law;
Judgment lays for me to see,
As truth avoids any flaw.
I chose the way of the truth,
Set Your decree before me;
Do not let me be uncouth,
And be faithful unto Thee.
I cling to your evidence,
Let me not be put to shame;
For Your Word is my defense,
That I’m using to proclaim.
I run the way of Your rules,
For You have enlarged my heart;
I’m not like the other fools,
That from Your way they depart.

I are always of good courage,
And know while I feel at home;
I become deathly in bondage,
To this body where I may roam.
I become away from the Lord,
Though I walk by faith, not by sight;
Our confidence not ignored,
Since I am walking in the light.
From this body in its absence,
Whether at home or far away;
Of the Lord in His presence,
Because I do trust and obey.
I will make it my aim to please,
Knowing that day I will appear;
For I have followed His decrees,
At the Judgment Seat I revere.
So, I receive what I am due,
For in my body, I have done;
Christ knowingly what I pursue,
Finishing all that had begun.

Your Throne, O God, Is Forever
My heart overflows with pleasure,
To address my words to the king;
My tongue and pen I treasure;
Of a ready scribe that will sing.
Fairer than the children of men,
Grace is poured out upon the tongue;
God has blest forever again,
Poetic words that have been flung.
I gird my sword upon my thigh,
With His glory and majesty;
The splendid ride riding on high,
From the truth victoriously.
For the meekness and righteousness,
Lets His right hand teach awesome deeds;
While using a cautiousness,
The enemy hides amongst the weeds.
The Lord’s throne has been forever,
His Kingdom is of uprightness;
Very solid and won’t sever,
A sovereignty of righteousness.
The Lord always loved righteousness,
He has anointed you with oil;
Beyond companions in gladness,
Hating the wicked turmoil.
Your robes smelling fragrance with myrrh,
Ivory palaces stringed with gladness;
Vision no longer as a blur,
No longer shrouded with sadness.
King’s daughters are girls of honor,
Stands the queen of gold on the right;
Being a spiritual fawner,
While walking within the light.

I Love the LORD
I love the Lord who heard my voice,
For the pleas of supplications;
He inclined His ear I rejoice,
Exceeding my expectations.
I will call as long as I live,
Encompassed by the snares of death;
Distress and anguish try to give,
The pangs of hell taking my breath.
I call on the name of the Lord,
I pray to deliver my soul;
He is gracious and I adored,
Worship and honor I extol.
Our God has been merciful,
While preserving the simple;
Because His Word is beautiful,
And has made me meek and humble.
I return to resting my soul,
The Lord has dealt bountifully;
Because He has taken control,
Glory overflowing abundantly.
He has stopped the tears from my eyes,
And any stumbling of my feet;
The land to the living that lies,
He guides my walk until complete.

A Call to Holy Living
1 Peter 1:13-16
Prepare your mind for action,
And to be sober-minded;
Not of your earthly fashion,
Causing you to be blinded.
Set your hope fully on grace,
From revelation of Christ;
Not upon this earthly place,
Causing you to be enticed.
Conform not to the passions,
Of your former ignorance;
Which are secular fashions,
Having roots in arrogance.
You are called to be holy,
Holy in all your conduct;
In being meek and lowly,
As Jesus Christ did instruct.
For you shall become holy,
Because Jesus is righteous;
Love the triune God solely,
Mind-set in your subconscious.

The Way of Holiness
There shall be an expressway,
Called the Way of Holiness;
Entry for who did not stray,
The unclean shall not access.
It shall be for those who walk,
Even if they may be fools;
Wayfaring men who will talk,
Knowing the biblical rules.
No lion nor vicious beast,
Just the redeemed shall walk there;
Awaiting the great High Priest,
Preparing the feast to share.
The saved of the Lord returns,
Coming to Zion with song;
Upon their heads each one learns,
Everlasting joy that’s strong.
A pure joy upon each head,
They shall obtain a gladness;
Sorrow and sighs shall be fled,
No longer shall be sadness.

Awake awake
From your slumber
For Christ has won the victory
Arise arise
Oh church of God
For you have been given the victory
Shout for joy shout for joy
Oh you children of Zion
Celebrate the coming King
Go forth. Go forth
In the name of the lord
And walk the Holy way
Break chains. Break chain
Of resentment and fear
For Christ has set you free
Be washed. Be washed
By His precious blood
For we are the saviour’s bride

At the foot of the cross
Here I lay at the foot of the cross.
Here I lay all my hopes and fears.
Here where you give your life for me
Here where you suffered pain and shame.
Here I lay in your loving arms.
Here I stop worrying about my fears.
Here I give my whole self to you.
No fears, no doubts just pure, deep love.
Your love Lord Jesus is all I need.
All I need to keep me true.
You gave your life so freely for me
Because you’ve loved me eternally
Take my worries far away.
Fill me with your love today
I will love you forever more.
And only you I will adore
Lord give me strength each day I pray.
To keep me on the narrow way.
I need you always by my side.
To be my saviour and my guide.
I need your hand to see me through.
I need your word to see the truth
Lord put your hand in mine today
And keep me on the narrow way
TESTING OF YOUR FAITH
Testing of Your Faith
James 1:12–18
Bless the man who remains steadfast,
For when he has stood the trial;
Receives the crown of life to last,
God gave him when not defile.
Let no one say when he’s tempted,
I am being tempted by God;
For God has never attempted,
Evil to make anyone flawed.
Each person is tempted when lured,
Enticed by their own desire;
The strife that one may have endured,
Conceived from the sin acquired.
Lust that when it has been conceived,
Sin fully grown brings forth to death;
Desire brings forth as believed,
Confession coming from one’s breath.
Do not ever become deceived,
Every good gift comes from above;
From the Father to be believed,
No variation from His love.
Of His own will by Word of truth,
We should be kind of the firstfruits;
As we were taught since our youth,
Testing of faith will grow your roots.

THE SUPREMACY OF GODS SON
The Supremacy of God’s Son
Hebrews 1:10-14
The Lord laid the foundation,
In setting up of the earth;
Making a new creation,
The giving of a new birth.
Heaven the work of His hands,
They’ll perish but He remains;
Because all that He commands,
His name is above all names.
Like a garment all wear out,
A vesture He will fold up;
Garments change without a doubt,
New fashion may develop.
But God will remain the same,
His decades will have no end;
He will never change His name,
With standards without a trend.
For Christ does sit at His right,
His foes made as a footstool;
He is the truth and the light,
The Father lets Him to rule.
The ministering spirits,
Sent out to serve for His sake;
Anyone who inherits,
That’s spiritually awake

BLESSED ARE THE FORGIVEN
The Lord will be instructing you,
Teaching you the way you should go;
He will counsel to what is true,
With His eye guiding you to show.
Be not like a horse or a mule,
That are curbed with bridle and bit;
Without realizing as a fool,
Won’t abide for your benefit.
Of the wicked most have sorrow,
But steadfast love surrounds in trust;
Which will give hope for tomorrow,
And will be fading any lust.
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,
All the upright joy fills their heart;
As the righteous lifts up their voice,
Forgiveness will give a new start.

THE SUM OF YOUR WORD
The Sum of Your Word
Psalm 119:153-160
Look upon my affliction,
For I don’t forget Your Law;
Plead my cause of addiction,
And redeem me from my flaw.
Give me life to Your promise,
Salvation far from evil;
Have mercy through Your justice,
Stop the harassing devil.
They do not seek Your statutes,
Great is Your mercy, O Lord;
The wicked full of disputes,
Your rules are being ignored.
They are my persecutors,
And as my adversaries;
Your Law they are refuters,
Mocking Your testimonies.
The faithless seen with disgust,
The transgressors being grieved;
Because I have much distrust,
In the thoughts that they believed.
How much I love Your precepts,
Gives life to Your steadfast love;
Quicken me with Your concepts,
For blessings flowing thereof.
The sum of Your Word is truth,
As Your righteous rules endure;
Judgment against the uncouth,
Condemning of the impure.

All Scripture Is Breathed Out by God
You have followed my teaching,
My conduct and aim in life;
My faith and love in out reaching,
Avoiding the conflict with strife.
It has caused me suffering,
Ridiculed persecution;
But Christ is my buffering,
By giving them retribution.
All who have a desire,
For living a godly life;
In Christ Jesus require,
Be persecuted through strife.
As evil people seduce,
In going from bad to worse;
The deception they produce,
Shall be feeling like a curse.
Continue what you have learned,
And to have firmly believed;
The salvation that you earned
As what you will have received.
As a child you have known,
Seen in the Holy Scriptures;
Many others have been prone,
Are deaf and blind to lectures.
The Word is breathed out by God,
And training in righteousness;
That we should honor and laud,
So, God continues to bless.
The man of God be perfect,
Equipped with every good deed;
And they will never neglect,
Continue to sow His seed.

Alive in Christ
Be not captive to vain deceit,
Nor spoiled by philosophy;
Rudiments of the world defeat,
Differs from Christianity.
In Him there is a whole fullness,
That the sanctified Godhead dwells;
You have been filled with blessedness,
Of Christ in spiritual morals.
Christ is the head authority,
Having the power of to reign;
The head of principality,
Able to control wind and rain.
For in Him you were circumcised,
Circumcision made without hands;
Iniquities are ostracized,
From the temptation that demands.
Through baptism it’s been buried,
In which you were raised from the dead;
When in one accord it’s agreed,
Through faith and spiritually fed.

For hereunto you have been called,
Because Christ has suffered for you;
As an example, made you flawed,
Following His steps to construe.
He did no sin neither deceit,
For when He had been reviled;
He continued to be upbeat,
When threatened He was undefiled.
The Father who judges justly,
Even at times He did suffer;
For He was filled with modesty,
The Father was there to buffer.
He bore our sin on the tree,
That we could live to righteousness;
And sin could die to make us free,
For healing wounds and make flawless.
For you were sheep going astray,
To the Shepherd you have returned;
Bishop of your soul to obey,
For the salvation you have earned.

1 John 1:1-4
That which was from the beginning,
That I had seen with our eyes;
And which I heard about sinning,
Which God looked upon to despise.
I looked upon with our hands,
With concerning the Word of Life;
Being made manifest demands,
That sinning will constitute strife.
The life was made as manifest,
And I have seen to testify;
Proclaiming that you will be blest,
With eternal life will apply.
The Father manifests in Word,
In which has appeared to us;
That which I have seen and have heard,
And I proclaim to you as thus.
So that you may have fellowship,
With all the other believers;
The Father and the Son worship,
Being salvation receivers.
I write these things that you may know,
So that your joy may be complete;
And that you are able to grow,
Into the spiritual elite.

PSALM 19 BY RICHARD SHERRER
The Law of the LORD Is Perfect
The Law of the Lord is perfect,
His testimony is as sure;
Making wise the simple as direct,
Testifying as being pure.
The precepts of the Lord are right,
His commands rejoice in the heart;
Enables you giving insight,
Enlightens the eyes to impart.
The fear of the Lord is complete,
Since the rules of the Lord are true;
Enduring forever to meet,
Righteously of gathered value.
More desired than that of gold,
Sweeter than drippings of honey;
Words as compassionately bold,
Having more value than money.
By them is your servant is warned,
To keep them as a great reward;
In your worship that is adorned
In reverence unto the Lord.

The Preeminence of Christ BY RICHARD SHERRER
The Preeminence of Christ
He is the image of God,
The firstborn of creation;
To whom we honor and laud,
And the route to salvation.
He created everything,
In Heaven and on the earth;
Seen and unseen that does bring,
Resources of priceless worth.
Before all things that exist,
In Him all holds together;
Seen and unseen that consist,
The body holds to gather.
Of the body He’s the head,
And reigning over the church;
The firstborn came from the dead,
And where the righteous will search.
He shall have preeminence,
Superior over all;
Pleasing the Father in sense,
No longer will mankind fall.
For all the fullness of God,
In Him had been pleased to dwell;
Confessions to cleanse where flawed,
The people won’t go to hell.
Appeased by Christ for all,
Whether on earth or Heaven;
Making peace as to befall,
For salvation that’s given.
You were once alienated,
Hostile doing evil deeds;
Penance eliminated,
As to what the darkness needs.
He reconciled through death,
To present you as holy;
Enabled to give new breath,
Above reproach as lowly.

His Steadfast Love Endures Forever
Psalm 100
Make a joyful noise to the Lord,
Let it be heard throughout the earth;
Serve with gladness in one accord,
Showing His essence of true worth.
Come to His presence with singing,
Knowing that the Lord is your God;
Who made us and is bringing,
Being His people to give laud.
We are His sheep of His pasture,
Enter His gates with thanksgiving;
Give thanks to Him for His stature,
Bless His name for our living.
For His mercy lasts forever,
Because His steadfast love endures;
His faithfulness will not sever,
Through all generations is grandeurs.

GOD IS GOOD BY MATTHEW SMITH
God is good
[Rom 8:29 KJV]
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
[Rom 8:30 KJV]
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
We His chosen are the bride
It’s by His grace we have been called
It is in Him all our hope is tied
Before conversion we lived for pride
Sinning constantly rarely appalled
We who are chosen are His bride
To justify us is why Christ died
To make us new sins recalled
It is in Him our hope is tied
Blood soaked tree sins justified
Grace abounds mercy installed
We His chosen are His bride
Jesus makes us new Holy sanctified
Alone we’d never make it even if we crawled
It is in Him all our hope is tied
We long for that day saints glorified
When we meet Jesus hearts enthralled
We his chosen are His bride
It’s in Him all our hope is tied
POEMS BY RICHARD SHERRER
Pleasing Others, Not Ourselves
We have a strong obligation,
To bear the failings of the weak;
Not for self-gratification,
But assist others that we seek.
Each of us please our neighbor,
For uplifting enlightenment;
Upon his leisure and labor,
Encouraging to complement.
Christ was not into self-pleasure,
The reproaches that fell on Him;
But preach on heavenly treasure,
To someone that was feeling grim.
Whatever written aforetime,
Were written for our learning;
Avoid in committing a crime,
From temptations you are yearning.
Through patience easing from Scriptures,
That God gives endurance to cope;
Bringing harmony that captures
And enables us to have hope.
Together you may have one voice,
Lauds the Father of our Lord;
Glorifying as we rejoice,
The Triune God in one accord.

I call for the Lord to save me,
I utter my complaint and moan;
He has heard my voice and could see,
That I was completely alone.
He redeems my soul in safety,
From the battle that I had waged;
Many are arrayed against me,
I feel like a beast that has been caged.
God will give ear to humble them,
He who is enthroned from of old;
If no change then He will condemn,
Since they don’t fear what they were told.
He stretched out His hand such as be,
At peace to who violated;
But that they were too blind to see,
And must be annihilated.
His speech was as smooth as butter,
Yet war had been filling His heart;
His words were softer to utter,
Yet they drew swords to counterpart.
Cast your burden upon the Lord,
Not to let the righteous be moved;
Always remain in one accord,
Sustain your thoughts so they’re behooved.
God will cast them into the pit,
Treachery and deceitful men;
Living out their days to commit,
The distrustful God must condemn.

Guard the Deposit Entrusted to You
I remind you to fan the flames,
Of which that God gave you a gift;
Through laying your hands that proclaims,
The inspiration to uplift.
God gave a spirit not to fear,
But of power for self-control;
Along with the love to revere,
And of a sound mind for your soul.
Don’t be ashamed to testify,
Testimony of our Lord;
Or suffering that would deny,
That lets the Gospel be ignored.
He saved us and had called us,
Not just because of our deeds;
But His purpose and grace as thus,
Which He gave before time precedes.
Which now has been manifested,
By appearance of the Savior;
Abolish death that infested,
Brought new life through changed behavior.
He brought iniquity to light,
About your life through the Gospel;
As a teacher to bring insight,
For preaching unto the people.
For which causes me to suffer,
But I’m never to be ashamed;
Knowing Christ will always buffer,
In continuing to be proclaimed.
For I know whom I have believed,
I’m able to remain on guard;
The salvation that I received,
Entrusted till earth has been charred

The Value of the Bible
2 Timothy 4:1-5
I charge you before the Lord,
To judge the quick and the dead;
In His presence to afford,
The bread of life to be fed.
Preach the Word for the reason,
Having patience and teaching;
For in or out of season,
Of its value for preaching.
Time is near they won’t endure,
Sound teaching but itching ears;
As their passion will allure.
False doctrine in casting fears.
For they will become uncouth,
Wander towards myths and fables;
No longer hearing the truth,
And built up from arousals.
Always be sober-minded,
And endure your suffering;
Not to become blind-sided,
Use Scripture for anchoring.
