Pleasing Others, Not Ourselves

Romans 15:1-7

We have a strong obligation,

To bear the failings of the weak;

Not for self-gratification,

But assist others that we seek.

Each of us please our neighbor,

For uplifting enlightenment;

Upon his leisure and labor,

Encouraging to complement.

Christ was not into self-pleasure,

The reproaches that fell on Him;

But preach on heavenly treasure,

To someone that was feeling grim.

Whatever written aforetime,

Were written for our learning;

Avoid in committing a crime,

From temptations you are yearning.

Through patience easing from Scriptures,

That God gives endurance to cope;

Bringing harmony that captures

And enables us to have hope.

Together you may have one voice,

Lauds the Father of our Lord;

Glorifying as we rejoice,

The Triune God in one accord.

Cast Your Burden on the LORD

Psalm 55:16-23

I call for the Lord to save me,

I utter my complaint and moan;

He has heard my voice and could see,

That I was completely alone.

He redeems my soul in safety,

From the battle that I had waged;

Many are arrayed against me,

I feel like a beast that has been caged.

God will give ear to humble them,

He who is enthroned from of old;

If no change then He will condemn,

Since they don’t fear what they were told.

He stretched out His hand such as be,

At peace to who violated;

But that they were too blind to see,

And must be annihilated.

His speech was as smooth as butter,

Yet war had been filling His heart;

His words were softer to utter,

Yet they drew swords to counterpart.

Cast your burden upon the Lord,

Not to let the righteous be moved;

Always remain in one accord,

Sustain your thoughts so they’re behooved.

God will cast them into the pit,

Treachery and deceitful men;

Living out their days to commit,

The distrustful God must condemn.

Guard the Deposit Entrusted to You

2 Timothy 1:6-12

I remind you to fan the flames,

Of which that God gave you a gift;

Through laying your hands that proclaims,

The inspiration to uplift.

God gave a spirit not to fear,

But of power for self-control;

Along with the love to revere,

And of a sound mind for your soul.

Don’t be ashamed to testify,

Testimony of our Lord;

Or suffering that would deny,

That lets the Gospel be ignored.

He saved us and had called us,

Not just because of our deeds;

But His purpose and grace as thus,

Which He gave before time precedes.

Which now has been manifested,

By appearance of the Savior;

Abolish death that infested,

Brought new life through changed behavior.

He brought iniquity to light,

About your life through the Gospel;

As a teacher to bring insight,

For preaching unto the people.

For which causes me to suffer,

But I’m never to be ashamed;

Knowing Christ will always buffer,

In continuing to be proclaimed.

For I know whom I have believed,

I’m able to remain on guard;

The salvation that I received,

Entrusted till earth has been charred

The Value of the Bible

2 Timothy 4:1-5

I charge you before the Lord,

To judge the quick and the dead;

In His presence to afford,

The bread of life to be fed.

Preach the Word for the reason,

Having patience and teaching;

For in or out of season,

Of its value for preaching.

Time is near they won’t endure,

Sound teaching but itching ears;

As their passion will allure.

False doctrine in casting fears.

For they will become uncouth,

Wander towards myths and fables;

No longer hearing the truth,

And built up from arousals.

Always be sober-minded,

And endure your suffering;

Not to become blind-sided,

Use Scripture for anchoring.
